The producers of Emerging Science, a VPT project showcasing Vermont scientists and researchers, and Champlain: The Lake Between, a documentary on the history of Lake Champlain, won Emmys at the 32nd annual Boston/New England awards on May 30 in Boston.

Emerging Science
VPT and producer Victor A. Guadagno used both traditional TV broadcasts and new platforms, including video podcasts and live web chats, to tell stories of researchers and entrepreneurs in science and technology. Guadagno won the Emmy in the category Advanced Media Writer/Producer. VPT recently completed the second season of Emerging Science and is working on a third.
Funding for Emerging Science is from Vermont EPSCoR, the Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research, located at the University of Vermont.
Champlain: The Lake Between
The Emmy for Historical/Cultural Program/Special went to independent filmmaker Caro Thompson and to Enzo Di Maio, VPT executive producer, for Champlain: The Lake Between. The documentary, produced for the~quadricentennial of Samuel de Champlain’s explorations, looks at the cultural and historical repercussions of his arrival. It is one element of the project Lake Champlain Voyages of Discovery: Bringing History Home.
Funding for Champlain: The Lake Between is from the Institute for Museum and Library Services and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
