The Vermont Public Television Community Council is an advisory board that helps Vermont's statewide public television network respond to the needs of the people it serves. Community Council members offer advice to the VPT staff and board of directors on programming and services.
The Community Council is composed of members from around the viewing area. VPT strives to ensure that a variety of opinions will be heard that the membership will represent the diverse needs and interests of the communities VPT serves. There are several openings on the Community Council at this time.
VPT's current Community Council members are:

Meetings are held quarterly, at a time and location determined at least two months in advance. Meetings are open to the public.
Terms run for three years. A member may be asked to serve one additional three-year term, for a maximum of two full terms.
Community Council members are expected to:- Be familiar with VPT's programming and services
- Act as eyes and ears for VPT in their communities, gathering comments about programming and services
- Participate in quarterly meetings about VPT's programming and services and be available as needed to advise on matters that may arise between meetings
- Serve on committees as requested by the chair
- Assist with special projects as the board of directors may request
The ideal Community Council member: - Wants to help Vermont Public Television serve the community
- Represents some of the diverse needs and interests of the communities served by VPT
- Is willing to be active in his or her own community to further VPT's service to the community
