VPT on Satellite

Vermont Public Television (VPT) is available on DISH Network (Echostar) and DirecTV in all Vermont counties. (See information below about Windham and Bennington Counties.) VPT is also available in Clinton, Franklin and Essex Co. of New York; and Grafton and Sullivan Co. of New Hampshire to subscribers who opt for the local channel package. On DISH Network, we're listed by our Burlington channel call letters, WETK. On DirecTV, we are listed as VPT. On either satellite system, press 33 to see Vermont Public Television.

Since 2006, DirecTV has carried VPT and other Vermont channels in Windham and Bennington counties, making Vermont programming available statewide to their subscribers. Subscribers in the southern counties do not pay extra for the Vermont channels. To add the Vermont channels, call DirecTV (1-800-347-3288) to schedule a free installation of equipment.

Although DISH Network, does not carry the Vermont commercial channels, VPT is available as an a la carte option, whether or not you subscribe to the local channel package. Subscribers in Windham and Bennington counties should contact DISH online or call 1-800-333-DISH. To receive VPT, ask for "statewide a la carte channel WETK, DISH Channel 8941."

U.S. Satellite Services and VPT's HD & Specialty Channels

DirecTV delivers VPT’s main schedule in HD (high definition) to their subscribers who have DirecTV’s HD equipment. If you subscribe to their analog service, you see the programs in analog.

VPT has invited DISH Network to carry our high definition programming, but so far, they are unwilling to do so.

We have offered our Create and World channels to both satellite providers, but neither one has added them.

Canadian Satellite Services

Unlike Canadian cable, neither of the satellite companies serving Canada (Bell ExpressVu and Star Choice) carries Vermont Public Television. They carry PBS channels from Boston, Buffalo or Seattle.

Consider Using an Antenna
Many viewers who subscribe to satellite also use an antenna to receive the extra digital channels from VPT and other local stations over the air.
