# 5 VPT Internship Program
Vermont Public Television has an internship program whereby college students spend a semester working at VPT to learn skills that can translate into employment in broadcasting following graduation. In some instances college credit is given. During the reporting period, VPT provided two internship opportunities to students to work in the production department. One intern attended Principia College in Illinois the other was a student at University of Vermont.
# 16 Student Press Conference with the Governor of Vermont
On March 27, 2007 VTP hosted a youth press conference with the Governor of Vermont. Working with 25 students in two communications classes at St. Michael’s College, professors integrated the press conference into their class curriculums with pre and post-press conference activities. A panel of local media experts representing print, TV and on-line media was assembled. The panel conducted a workshop and Q&A session with the students, followed by a 45 minute press conference with Governor Douglas.
# 16 Station Tours
During the reporting period station personnel conducted station tours for young people and their adult chaperones. Tours include demonstrations of television technology as well as ample opportunity to ask questions of members of VPT staff.
