Central Vermont Community Action Council (CVCAC)
Central Vermont Community Action Council (CVCAC) helps people to achieve economic sufficiency with dignity through individual and family development. We work to alleviate the effects of poverty; assist individuals and families to move out of poverty; and advocate for long-term change for economic justice. Annually, we serve more than 15,000 people in 8,000 households primarily in Washington, Lamoille and Orange counties through a diversity of programs including weatherization, food shelves, crisis fuel, tax preparation and controversy resolution, micro business development, Head Start early education, and financial literacy training. We are a statewide leader in developing innovative approaches to help folks move out of poverty and some of our initiatives extend statewide.

The Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger is a statewide nonprofit organization that works with state agencies and community groups to develop sustainable hunger solutions. Since 1993 our outreach programs have substantially enhanced Vermont’s nutrition safety net and increased access to nutritious foods.

The Vermont Department of Education’s Child Nutrition Programs staff administer the federal programs that support nutritious meals and snacks in schools, daycare settings and summer program sites, ensuring that nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks are served to program participants in all eligible sites in Vermont.
