When the University of Vermont confers degrees on 2,366 students, with traditional academic processions and proud loved ones applauding, at commencement events May 19 and 20, an audience far beyond Burlington can see what’s happening.
As it has for many years, UVM has hired VPT Video Production to cover commencement. The University will produce DVDs of the coverage for those who want a keepsake.
This year for the first time, VPT coverage expands to live streams of all 11 ceremonies. We’re doing this to give distant friends and family, and the larger community, an opportunity to see what’s going on.
The University Commencement Main Ceremony will be Sunday, May 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. The speaker is Cyma Zarghami, president of Nickelodeon and a UVM alum. On Saturday the 19th and on the 20th following the main ceremony, individual schools and colleges hold their ceremonies.
If you’d like to see someone you know receive a diploma, or if you’d like inspiration from the speaker, you’re welcome to log on to http://live.vpt.org/uvm.html during the events. A complete schedule is at http://www.uvm.edu/~cmncmnt/
