Description: 

For 50 years, Trisha Brown has blazed a singular path in the dance world.

Known for incorporating everyday movements into her avant-garde work, she has become one of the world's most acclaimed choreographers.

In this performance, the company does excerpts of a new work, "Rogues," inspired by Brown's exploration of sculpture, calligraphy and knots, with score by composer Alvin Curran.

Earlier Brown masterworks will complete the evening.

The eighth annual Burlington Book Festival will take place at a variety of  locations in downtown Burlington throughout the weekend of September 21 through 23.

The Queen City's latest annual celebration of the written word will offer readings, signings, panels, workshops, demos, musical performances, family activities and special events featuring literary luminaries from around the world-and just around the corner.

All events will be free of charge and open to the public.

We will have two speakers from UVM College of Medicine that are going to talk about brain trauma. Coming on September 13, we will have two speakers, Kalev Freeman, Principal Investigator, Trauma Physiology Laboratory and Director of Emergency Medicine Research UVM College of Medicine & James Slauterbeck, M.D., Associate Professor, College of Medicine, UVM and Orthopedics/Sports Medicine, Fletcher Allen Hospital.

Our speakers will be share the latest information about what physicians are seeing and how they are treating these types of sports injuries. Each of our speakers will have 15 minutes to talk about their research on brain trauma followed by a 45 min dual Q&A.

Jimmy Slauterbeck will be talking about mechanisms and management of injuries during sporting events, and how to prevent them. Kalev Freeman will focus on the biology of post-concussive syndrome, neuroimaging and rehabilitation.

Rafea, who lives in a small Jordanian village, is 30 years old with four children and a husband eager to take a third wife. With encouragement from her country's Ministry of Environment, she attends the Barefoot College in India to train to become a solar- energy engineer. The Barefoot College provides training to the rural poor to empower them to make their communities sustainable. Students include rural women from Kenya, Burkina Faso, Colombia, and Guatemala.
