CardinalVermont and its birds star in this popular one-hour VPT special hosted by Bryan Pfeiffer, naturalist and lifelong birdwatcher. Bryan leads viewers to top birding spots in Vermont throughout the course of a year, from backyard feeders to a remote bog to the state’s highest peak. He explains the tools of the trade and offers tips to make birdwatching enjoyable for people at every level of experience.

As Bryan points out in the program, birding is one of the best reasons to get outdoors and enjoy nature, even in cold weather. Birdwatching is popular in the U.S., with more than 50 million people involved. And, according to a 2002 study by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that compared the states, Vermont had the highest percentage — 60 percent — of residents engaged in some form of wildlife watching.

So join us on a birding tour. You’ll have fun learning where, when and how to find some of the state’s most familiar birds and some of the rarest.
