Sleigh Ride

Once one of the main means of transportation in the north country, sleigh rides are now reserved for a handful of eager tourists. We take a ride with Tony Godin of Charlie Horse Sleigh Rides in Stowe, Vt., and look at the local history of sleigh rides.

Dog Sled Racing History
We chronicle the colorful history of sled dog racing in American and how it connects with Wonalancet, N.H., a small town which was the capitol of the sport for many years.

Snow Travelers
The Vermont Association of Snow Travelers (VAST) is one of the oldest snowmobiling organizations in the country. It has about 20,000 Vermont members and about 12,000 out of state members in 147 clubs statewide. VAST has approximately 5,000 miles of interconnecting trails in Vermont allowing one to travel from one end of the state to the other. The most developed system within any state, the trails offer access to gas stations, restaurants, convenience stores, hotels, motels and B&Bs throughout Vermont. Producer Ed Lalonde takes us on a journey to explore VAST and its $300-million impact on the state.
