When Citizen Soldiers Are Deployed

Thursday, April 26, at 8 pm

Host Kristin CarlsonThis live program will include a video story and a panel discussion on situations that citizen soldiers, their families, their employers and the state of Vermont face when Guard members are deployed overseas.

Topics will include stresses on family members and resources available to help them. The program also looks at services for Guard members who return from a war zone with injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Joining host Kristin Carlson will be:

  • Clayton Clark, Veterans Services Director, Vermont Office of Veterans Affairs
  • Mary Blow, Family Assistance Center Supervisor, Vermont National Guard

    The Office of Veterans Affairs provides information on a variety of programs and services for veterans and their families. Services include assistance in applying for benefits and help assuring special honors.

    The Vermont National Guard Family Program provides assistance to military members and their families during times of deployment and during peacetime. Services include matching families with a Family Assistance Center, which provides information and referral, financial and legal assistance.

    The Vermont Veterans' Home offers a complete range of services for veterans, including specialized health care services. Their goals focus on dignity, independence and the highest quality of life for each resident.

  • White River Junction VA Medical Center, 1 (866) OUR-VETS
    Located on 64 acres of hillside in the Upper Connecticut River Valley, the White River Junction VA Medical Center includes a hospital, research building, ambulatory care facility and buildings for clinical and administrative support. This 60-bed, acute care facility provides a full range of primary, secondary and specialty care. Clinical services focus on a comprehensive, compassionate continuity of care.
