Governor's Health Care Summit
Mon., Oct. 17 at 8 pm
The
statistics are startling and sobering. Vermonters spend 2.8 billion
dollars each year on health care, almost 15 percent of the state economy.
And there is no end in sight. Costs continue to rise for hospitals, doctors,
patients and businesses.
On October 17th, Vermonts Governor Jim Douglas will convene a health
care summit that brings together all the players in the debate with the
hope that some agreement can be forged to contain costs without affecting
quality and access. The health care summit is intended to be a full day
of collaborative dialogue among participants in the current health care
reform debate, including health care providers, insurers, employers, consumer
groups and advocates.
VPT's PUBLIC SQUARE will broadcast live from the Grand Summit Hotel in Killington,
Vt. Chris Graff hosts and Bridget Barry Caswell reports.
During the program, Chris Graff will be joined by leading members of the
health care community and those charged with shaping the future of health
care delivery in Vermont. Highlights of the day's events will be included.
