Suburban sprawl and smart growth are the issues for this live VPT special.

Program host Lawrence Pyne will be joined by panelists presenting a variety of perspectives. The panelists will be:
  • Darby Bradley, president, Vermont Land Trust
  • Greg Brown, executive director, Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission
  • Evan Goldsmith, acting executive director, Vermont Forum on Sprawl
  • Bob Hill, executive vice president, Vermont Association of Realtors
Viewers will be invited to call a toll-free number to be announced during the program with their questions and comments.

Online Community Assessment Tool
Pathways to Planning is an online, interactive tool to help local groups learn about sprawl and smart growth and develop strategies for action. This tool serves as a "consultant" for planners and community members and allows users to tailor each online session to the specific characteristics of their community.

Related Film
A related film, Livable Landscapes: By Chance or By Choice?, looks at the changing relationship between the people of northern New England and the land, and tells stories of average citizens taking a stand against sprawl. It will air Wednesday, April 20, at 10 pm.

A Discussion Guide to help translate the issues raised in the film is available.
