Spring Smallmouth Bass Fishing

bass, fishing

While Lake Champlain has a reputation as a world-class bass fishery, the lake's many tributaries are less well known. We'll enjoy great light-tackle fishing during the spring catch-and-release season when the Smallmouth spawn.

Vermont Bald Eagles

birds, eagles

Visit an active eagle nesting site, one of the first in Vermont since 2008 when the birds were reintroduced. Although the bald eagle population has soared to nearly 10,000 nesting pairs nationwide, Vermont had no resident population until these efforts.

Vermont's Native Mussels

Enter an unseen world at the bottom of the meandering Poultney River in search of freshwater mussels. Ecologists, anglers and hunters treasure this nearly 40-mile-long waterway along the Vermont-New York border for its diverse wildlife habitat.
