Episode Guide »
Worms are an important ingredient of the soil and the compost pile. In the ground, an earthworm ploughs the soil, fights plant diseases, reduces pollution and turns ordinary dirt into fertile land. But in the compost pile, worms can steal the show. One specialized type of composting is called vermicompost, where worms do all the work of breaking down and decomposing compostable garbage and turn it into black gold for the garden. This episode discusses the vital role earthworms play in our ecosystem and demonstrates, step-by-step, how the viewer can harness their power to quickly and efficiently compost their kitchen scraps.
