Episode Guide »
To gardeners, Thomas Jefferson holds a special place of honor. The gardens at Monticello were a botanic laboratory of ornamental and useful plants from around the world. As an avid plantsman and gardener, Mr. Jefferson kept detailed records over many years of his horticultural discoveries, plant exchanges with friends around Europe as well as his successes and failures when it came to his own gardening and farming practices at Monticello. Thanks to his meticulous records and the historic preservation of the grounds, today we can step back in time to see how one of the most famous green gardeners in history lived out his passion for gardening at Monticello.
