Paint This With Jerry Yarnell

First Love, Part 1

Series Website »
Episode Guide »
(16x20 Acrylic) This session starts by under painting the piece in sections starting with dark green, leafy canopy in the upper third of the canvas, as well as adding some light spots representing leafy motion. Next, the horizon line is added by placing the road bank and the light green horizon highlight. The road is then added using a transparent burnt sienna, which should be double-coated because of its transparency. The grassy banks are then blocked in on both sides using a bristle brush and upward strokes. The session is then completed by adding highlights to the road to set the stage for the neat effects that this painting will develop. A second highlight to the road completes this session.
