In response to the
escalating threat of war, South Carolina Educational Television has developed
a guided, moderated online message board called OPEN
LINES that challenges teens to think about world events from new perspectives
and to share their emotions, ideas and solutions with a global audience.
For Teens talk about
global conflict
OPEN
LINES is a place where you can discuss world events and what you're
concerned about with kids around the globe.

Every week new questions will be posted based on world
leaders' speeches, political presentations and news reports. You can post
replies to those questions, respond to replies posted by other users,
or submit questions that may be hot topics in your part of the world.

For
Teachers
foster classroom discussion
You can use OPEN LINES as a classroom
activity to foster discussion about government, world geography, history,
foreign languages, culture and conflict resolution. Any of your K-12 initiatives
can be broadened with the inclusion of this project.
OPEN
LINES also includes a list of websites recommended for teachers to
use in the classroom and links to read the latest
headlines.
