Conserve Energy
Preserve Our Planet

With plenty of winter still ahead of us, it's not too late to conserve energy and help preserve our planet. Here are some easy steps you can take to reduce your energy consumption… and your bills:
  • Lower that thermostat. It costs less to reheat your home than to keep it warm constantly.

  • Take advantage of the sun's free heat. Open all those south facing blinds, shades and curtains.

  • Keep radiators and heating panels free and clear to facilitate circulation and radiation.

  • Ensure heating system efficiency by replacing dirty air filters and having your furnace checked once a year.

  • Switch to fluorescent bulbs that use as little as a quarter of the energy of regular bulbs and last much longer.

  • Turn off unnecessary lights. If you're not in the room, you don't need the light.
Efficiency Vermont provides technical advice, financial assistance and design guidance to help make Vermont homes, farms and businesses energy efficient. You can also contact Efficiency Vermont at 1-888-921-5990, or send an e-mail with your question or comment.
