Aging with Joy

A former New Yorker, Carol Winfield now lives in Vermont and teaches yoga to “The Minimums” (age 3-8), and “The Maximums,” (over age 60). A writer who worked at the Metropolitan Opera and American Museum of Natural History, Carol continues to write, travel, and revel in her age. On a mission to introduce yoga as a joyful practice for everyone, especially the The Maximums, “Carol,” according to students, “puts smiles on our faces…is full of love and life…a vivacious lady, an inspiration who makes us feel good about ourselves, our bodies and our age.”

Tips from Carol

• When you get up in the morning, laugh at yourself…it changes everything
  
  
• Join a laugh therapy group
  • Carol runs a free group on Tuesday evenings, The “Laugh Group" is held every Tuesday from 6 - 6:30 p.m. at BikeRecycle Vermont at 664 Riverside Ave, right next to Good News Garage.
    
    
• Daily Physical Exercise
  • Yoga, walking, etc.
    
    
• Remain productive – just trying invigorates you
  
  
• Be as positive as possible
  
  
• Volunteer – Get involved
  
  
• Breathe with feeling
  
  
• Love and laugh
  
  
• Celebrate the years you've lived
  
  
• Feel good about being whatever it is you are
  
  
• At the end of day: Settle down, take a few minutes to go over the day
  • Try to forget the bad parts and appreciate the good parts
    
    
• Tell yourself, “I am magnificent!”
