Stroke Prevention

Did you know that 80% of strokes can be prevented? Getting help quickly is important, so here are some warning signs:

  • You're suddenly numb or weak in your face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body.
  • You have trouble speaking or you slur your words.
  • You can't see clearly in one or both eyes.
  • You have difficulty walking.
  • You have a sudden, severe headache.

American Heart Association

American Stroke Association
The American Stroke Association is a division of the American Heart Association that focuses on reducing risk, disability and death from stroke through research, education, fundraising and advocacy.

American Stroke Foundation

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC)

National Stroke Association
The National Stroke Association works to lower the incidence and impact of stroke by developing compelling community outreach programs, calling for continued improvement in the quality of stroke patient care, and educating both health care professionals and the general public about stroke.

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)
The mission of NINDS is to reduce the occurrence of neurological disease. NINDS is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
